Our Community Response is continuing to provide support for anyone vulnerable as a result of covid-19, including people that are self isolating and who are living alone or do not have any help/support.  This can be accessed through our link below  or by calling 01903 221222 for help to complete the online form (phone lines are open Monday to Friday 0900-1700).

Self Isolation Payments

Residents in Adur and Worthing, along with the rest of the country, will be required by law to self-isolate from 28th September, if they test positive or are contacted by Test and Trace.

From 28th September,  people who live in Adur and Worthing will be entitled to a self-isolation payment of £500 if they:

  • Have been instructed to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace, either because they've tested positive or are the close contact of a positive case; and
  • Are employed or self-employed; and
  • Are unable to work from home and will lose income as a result; and
  • Are currently receiving Universal Credit, Working Tax Credit, income-based Employment and Support Allowance, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, Income Support, Housing Benefit and/or Pension Credit

An online application system for customers to use is currently under development, following the announcement last week. We anticipate that the system will go live on or before 12th October. In the meantime, people who believe that they meet all the criteria can phone the Councils to request us to alert them when the system is ready for them to use.  Once it is available, customers can complete an application and upload documents needed to evidence their eligibility.

Covid-19 Safe and Businesses

Our Public Health & Regulation team continue to provide advice and support to businesses and organisations across the area, on keeping premises covid-safe. The Councils will have increased powers to ensure that certain businesses have a system to collect NHS Test and Trace data and retain this for a period of 21 days. If you are unsure about how this could impact you then contact the team at publichealth.regulation@adur-worthing.gov.uk or on 01903 221064.

As a helpful reminder, the government’s most recent advice is to:

  • Wash hands - keep washing your hands regularly
  • Cover face - wear a face covering in enclosed spaces
  • Make space - stay at least 2 metres apart (or 1 metre with precautions)
  • Get tested if you display symptoms (high temperature / new continuous cough / loss or change to your taste or smell)

Everyone is at risk from Covid-19.
