 The Barn Surgery

About Us

The Partnership

The Barn Surgery is a partnership.  Dr Farrer has a medical degree from St Mary’s, London, and qualified in 1993. Dr Pidgeon has a medical degree from The University of Southampton and qualified in 2006.  Both partners are members of the Royal College of General Practitioners.

GP Training

The Practice is involved in the teaching of medical students and occasionally you may be asked if you mind if a medical student sits in on your consultation.

Facilities

Modern equipment and computerisation help the surgery run efficiently and effectively. The surgery has a wheelchair ramp and WC featuring facilities for the disabled. We are also equipped for Minor Surgery.

Disclosure of Earnings

NHS England require that the net earnings of doctors engaged in the practice is publicised by 31 March 2017 at the latest.  However, it should be noted that the prescribed method of calculating earnings is potentially misleading because it takes no account of how much time doctors spend working in the practice and should not be used for any judgement about GP earnings, nor to make any comparisons with other practices.

The figures below provided by our accountants Morris Crocker confirm that the average pay for GPs working in The Barn Surgery in the last financial year was £77,061 before tax and National Insurance. This is for 1 full time GP and 1 part time GP.

These figures have been calculated using BMA and LMC guidance.
